Research

Institute of Information Assurance (IIA) research examines cyber security from various perspectives, including:

  • Network security spanning multiple network communication layers, such as sensors and wireless devices
  • Information integrity, including threats such as viruses and insider attacks
  • Hardware and software system vulnerabilities in information infrastructures
  • Measurement and privacy issues associated with social connections

Faculty members involved in the IIA are addressing complex cyber security issues that affect consumers, industry, and governments. Many of their individual, collaborative, and multidisciplinary research projects receive funding from the National Security Agency, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, the National Science Foundation, and other agencies.
